Our client is seeking a Technology Operations Engineer. With technology driving new strategies across the business, this role is critical to ensuring seamless automation, configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting for multiple trading strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, automate and deploy critical software distribution for Linux and Windows
- Solid understanding of systems monitoring, alerting and analytic tools to proactively monitor systems for problems
- Strong ability to identify, diagnose and troubleshoot complex applications and to resolve problems which are critical to ensure market uptime
- Liaise across dynamic trading, development and systems team to address mission critical system issues to ensure timely resolution
- Fulfill daily/scheduled system management and one-off requests
- Desire to improve firm process through development of new tools
- Strong bend toward process/escalation/SLA to properly maintain systems documentation to mitigate risks across the business
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- 2+ years of experience using, managing, or developing on Linux systems
- Fluent with Linux command line tools
- Proficient in a scripting language (Python, Bash, etc.)
- Comfortable with distributed version control like Git, Mercurial, or Subversion
- Familiar with configuration management systems like Salt, Puppet, or Chef
- Familiarity with open source monitoring tools, such as Nagios, Cacti, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks at one time in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral
- Motivated to identify and solve issues in a timely manner
- Some knowledge of the financial industry preferred
