Our client is searching for an exceptional Lead Engineer to join the team in New York. The Lead Engineer will build a small team to work closely with Senior Risk Managers in the region. The role reports to the Head of Risk IT and the successful candidate will be expected to be hands-on, leading projects across a global footprint of developers. The successful candidate will develop primarily in Python to enhance and develop algorithms and models, use C++ &/or Java for server-side infrastructure & HTML5 for data visualization. A working knowledge of database design & data analysis techniques will be beneficial.
Responsibilities:
- Work as part of an established technology leadership team to define the vision & strategy for the risk platform
- Manage the day-to-day priorities for a small team of developers in NY
- Build deep understanding of specific businesses & the associated Risk Manager’s requirements
- Partner with Risk Managers to define & build state-of-the-art risk analysis software
- Provide application and analytics support to Quantitative Researchers & Risk Managers
- Perform data acquisition, analysis and reporting tasks to support pricing and risk management decisions
- Facilitate communication and collaboration with business users and cross-organizational technology
Requirements:
- 12+ years experience in system analysis, design and programming. Python preferred
- C++, C# & Unix all beneficial. Emphasis on numerical programming preferred
- SQL & data manipulation experience essential
- Experience of web application frameworks beneficial, e.g. HTML5, JavaScript (ES6+) & frameworks (React), Node.js
- Solid understanding & demonstration of good Software Development Life Cycle practices
- Management experience required
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills required
- Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required
- Prior experience with major risk vendor products (e.g. RiskMetrics or Barra) preferred
