Our client is searching for an experienced Software Engineer to join their team in New York. The Portfolio Construction & Risk IT is part of a global team of developers who partner closely with Risk Managers in all regions to deliver world-class risk analysis tools for enterprise-wide risk management. The successful candidate is expected to be an excellent developer with some knowledge of finance and a passion for solving problems with the use of technology. You will develop primarily in Python to enhance and develop algorithms and models, use C++ &/or Java for server-side infrastructure & HTML5 for data visualization. A working knowledge of database design & data analysis techniques will be beneficial.

Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of an established & experienced development team (in India, London, NY, Chicago)
  • Partner with Risk Managers to design, develop & deploy new applications for state-of-the-art risk analysis
  • Build deep understanding of specific businesses & the associated Risk Manager’s requirements
  • Contribute new ideas/best practices to prototype new technology concepts
  • Provide application and analytics support to Quantitative Researchers & Risk Managers
  • Perform data acquisition, analysis and reporting tasks to support pricing and risk management decisions
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration with business users and cross-organizational technology teams


Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in system analysis, design and programming. Python preferred
  • C++, C# & Unix all beneficial. Emphasis on numerical programming preferred
  • SQL & data manipulation experience essential
  • Experience of web application frameworks beneficial, e.g. HTML5, JavaScript (ES6+) & frameworks (React), Node.js
  • Solid understanding & demonstration of good Software Development Life Cycle practices
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills required
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required
  • Prior experience with major risk vendor products (e.g. RiskMetrics or Barra) is beneficial


Education:

  • Masters Degree in a quantitative field such as engineering, science, computer science, or mathematics
