Our client is looking for a talented Software Engineer to work in their New York office. Data is at the foundation of our client’s investment strategy, and the effective management of data in its various forms (structured and unstructured) is of paramount importance in maintaining the expansion of their business. This team is at the forefront of big data and building cutting-edge tools and techniques, and has a direct impact on profitability of the firm.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, source, cleanse, and process data to make it discoverable and available
- Make technical decisions on the acquisition, processing and storage of data using different technologies
- Effectively partner with stakeholders, including quantitative researchers, sector data analysts,
- technologists, and other members of the and the central data organization
- Own and seamlessly drive end to end projects
Requirements:
- 6-12 years of relevant software engineering experience
- Experience with Python, R, Java, Scala, or similar
- Understanding of big data processing, systems architecture, and software engineering data processing
- sets such as Kafka, Spark, Flink or Storm
- Various datastore experience including relational, document, columnar and object stores
- Ability to effectively communicate across various stakeholders and personalities
- Demonstrated excellence delivering in a demanding and fast paced environment
- Web data extraction
- Vertica, Greenplum, Redshift or BigQuery experience
- Large scale text analytics processing
- AWS experience including EMR
- Tech stacks associated with Hadoop, Storm, Akka, Scala, Flink, Spark, Nifi, or airflow
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering from a top University
