This role requires a Senior Network Engineer to perform design, administration and troubleshooting of a global network infrastructure in an aggressive, high throughput, latency sensitive environment. They are looking for an experienced, self-directed engineer that can work successfully both independently and in collaborative settings. The ideal candidate will work directly with application development, support, and other IT teams to develop solutions that meet the needs of a fast growing business. This role is a pure engineer role and will require most time to be spent working with application teams, collecting and analyzing data and coming up with solutions and recommendations based on that data.
Required skills:
- Extensive experience with Cisco networking equipment and configuration
- Experience with Layer1 switching and Layer1 data passing / brokering technologies
- Experience implementing routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, etc);
- Detailed experience working with PIM and multicast routing
- Design experience with low latency network technologies, both in high and low capacity scenarios
- Experience working with capture devices, including Napatech, Endace, NetScout or similar
- Detailed experience with packet analysis tools, such as Wireshark or similar
- Basic understanding of low-level networking, including the MAC / PHY layer
- User level knowledge of LINUX/UNIX operating system and the ability to perform basic
- network troubleshooting on hosts; knowledge of iptables a plus
- Exposure to DWDM systems, with an understanding of how the various components interact with LAN and WAN hardware
- Perl, Python, or Bash scripting experience
Preferred:
- CCIE certification
- Experience designing and deploying networks in the Financial Services sector.
- Exchange experience a plus
- Experience with Internet-facing architectures
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or an Allied Field
