Our client is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to work in their Chicago office.  The successful candidate will be expected to perform design, administration and troubleshooting for global network infrastructure in an aggressive, latency sensitive environment.  They are looking for an entrepreneurial, self-directed technical expert that can work both independently and with the broader team. 


Responsibilities:

    • Working as part of an established, experienced engineering team to build best in class technology platforms.
    • Design, engineer, and troubleshoot for the global network infrastructure in an aggressive, latency sensitive environment. 
    • Facilitate communication and collaboration with business users and peer technology teams.
    • Provide technical expertise to both internal and external users.

    Requirements:

      • 5 years experience in a design role 
      • 3 years experience in an administrative role
      • Strong knowledge troubleshooting Layer 1, Layer 2 and Layer 3 issues 
      • Protocol knowledge: 
      • TCP/IP
      • OSPF
      • BGP
      • MSDP
      • PIM (SM and DM) 
      • Vendor Experience:
      • Cisco
      • Routing, L3 and L2 switching
      • Firewalling (FWSM, PIX and ASA)
      • VPN (Site-to-Site IPSec) 
      • Experience with provisioning and maintenance of Coarse and Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM)
      • Experience troubleshooting with packet analysis tools, such as Wireshark or similar
      • Experience setting up and working with co-location providers
      • CCNP certification or better
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
      • Experience working in fast-paced, aggressive companies 


      Preferred:

      • CCIE certification
      • Experience in the financial industry
      • Experience in a 24 x 7 global network environment
      • Experience designing, administering and troubleshooting multicast networks 
      • Experience with Internet-facing architectures (design, security and administration)
      • Experience with Linux-based networking (checking host counters, etc)


      Education:

      • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, or related engineering or science curriculum.
