Our client is looking for a Senior Developer to join the Commodities IT team. You will work closely with the Commodities business and provide Sr. level technical expertise to support and enhance the Commodities desk. You must demonstrate ability to analyze complex business/technical problems and make sound technical decisions proactively and in a self-directed manner. The hands-on role will utilize python, modern design and data analysis techniques to develop robust software solutions. Focus will be on reusable high performance applications and infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design, development and deployment of new and existing industry leading applications pertaining to Natural Gas Trading within the wider Commodities Business
- Build industry-leading strategic front office tools and functions to help analysts build price signal and trading models and visualizations
- Deep interaction with Commodities business to evolve technology needs into viable software
- Maturely drive uniformity of technology solutions offered to the desk to minimize support
- Separate tactical and strategic requests from the desk and solve them accordingly
- Build rapport, trust and efficiency with analysts and senior portfolio managers to optimize use of technology for profitable trading
- Facilitate the timely completion of initiatives and support their production use
Requirements:
- 6+ year experience working with in a production level environment
- 4+ years experience developing financial trading related applications
- High degree of motivation and strong work ethic
- Strong C.S. fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, distributed development, system design)
- Track record of effective teamwork and leading small teams on high impact projects
- Financial Industry knowledge; Commodities markets - preferred
- Ability to communicate in clear, confident manner to all levels of the business
- Pragmatism and experience working in a fast paced trading floor environment
- Experience with and effective use of automated testing principles a major plus
- Experience with numpy and scipy and pandas a plus
Education:
- Bachelors of Science (Master Degree preferred) in engineering, computer science, or mathematics.
