Our client is looking for a Developer to work in their New York office. The successful candidate will be joining the Commodities team. This team will monitor the client’s activities in the North American natural gas market, European gas and power markets as well as activities in crude oil. This team combines fundamental market expertise with quantitative analytics to identify directional and relative value investment opportunities. The successful candidate should be proactive with experience working in a fast paced environment
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining physical gas system used by North American natural gas desk
- Interface with middle office to ensure that trades are priced correctly in the system and feed correctly to firmwide system
- Interface with schedulers to ensure that the system reflects their activities accurately
- Role involves bug fixes and enhancements, the latter can involve significant development work
Required Skills
- Strong in C#
- Very strong in SQL
- Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms)
- Strong verbal communication skills on both technical and non-technical topics
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of gas trading/scheduling in North America
- Experience supporting a trading desk

- Intellectual curiosity. A strong desire and aptitude to learn and share ideas and knowledge with colleagues.

Background / Experience:
- Technical education should include an undergraduate and/or advanced computer science, electrical engineering or other relevant applied science
