A successful High-Frequency proprietary trading firm with offices in North America, Asia & Europe is currently looking for a talented and self-motivated technical operations specialist to join their growing technology team in London. The ideal candidate will hold BA degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science or similar technical field and must demonstrate familiarity with CWDM/DWDM and dark fibre systems. Furthermore, industry experience is essential for consideration.
Responsibilities
- Play an important role supporting this growth, and will bring a passion for all things systems-related, from hardware and networking through to software build, deployment, automation and tooling.
- Responsible for supporting their low-latency electronic trading systems, and will include interactions with all functional areas within the firm.
- Assist or lead the specification and procurement of new infrastructure, including vendor management and service contract negotiation
- Configure and optimize high-availability trading infrastructure, working closely with other functional areas
- Prioritise and troubleshoot complex network and systems issues, ranging from low-level hardware to application level, including packet analysis.
Requirements
- BA degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science or similar technical field
- Experience of project management, especially involving managing external suppliers and vendors
- Experience of network and colocation design and commissioning within a low-latency environment
- Expert understanding of network routing and transport protocols, and knowledge of current generation switch/router/server architecture and performance
- Familiarity with CWDM/DWDM and dark fibre systems
- Experience with python or similar scripting language, including development of tooling and automation
- Effective communicator with a proactive attitude
- Able to build strong relationships within a distributed team
- Can demonstrate a high level of initiative and a track record of delivering projects
