Our Client is an award winning quantitative hedgefund with a managing over $1B in assets. The firm is based on the beach and has a great culture with a relaxed and meritocratic structure. There is a Ping-Pong, foosball table in the office and the company believes that a work life balance is the key to optimizing performance. The firm currently employs 40 research scientists and software engineers who work collaboratively. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, administer, and maintain policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company’s databases
  • Implement database backup & recovery, data models, database designs, data access and table maintenance codes
  • Resolve database performance and capacity issues, and replication and other distributed data issues
  • Determine and implement appropriate change management policies and processes
  • Install, configure, test/benchmark, and maintain the general health of database servers and related infrastructure, monitor system logs for alerts, errors and warnings, and available/free space on the OS and storage volumes, and analyze space usage history and recommend changes as needed
  • Create/update documentation for new/existing maintenance and installation processes
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned


Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or technical discipline
  • 10+ years of database administration
  • Highly advanced T-Sql skills
  • Deep familiarity with the breadth of Sql Server tools, e.g. SSMS, Sql Profiler, Sql Server Configuration Manager, dynamic management views, Tuning Advisor, etc.
  • Have owned one or more large databases, minimum 100GB+
  • Proven track record as a DBA in both production and development environments
  • Excellent skills with Sql Server security model
  • Excellent database backup/recovery skills, and project implementation skills
  • Experience with performance tuning and scalable database design
  • Experience installing, configuring, and supporting SQL Server environments
  • Knowledgeable with ETL and warehouse tools and processes
