Our client is seeking a talented Engineer for Data operations to support and monitor the life cycle of the global alpha production system. The successful candidate will work with developers and portfolio managers to ensure all alphas and underlying datasets are produced on schedule, to investigate and resolve any issues with the production system, and to automate monitoring solutions.

The successful candidate will have a strong Unix/ Linux background and familiarity with at least one major programming language. They will need to have excellent analytical skills and a passion for solving problems. 


Key Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor the alpha production system, announce delays to portfolio managers, investigate outages
  • Optimize and scale the alpha production framework according to the evolving needs of the business
  • Study logs, troubleshoot infrastructure, database and other system-wide issues
  • Address questions and administer market data to internal consumers. Examine datasets and interact with vendors
  • Design and implement scalable monitoring applications and tools. Automate processes and work flow


Suggested Skills/ Experience

  • Strong Unix/Linux background required. The candidate must be very familiar with shell scripting
  • The candidate must have knowledge of computer systems, object oriented design, data structures and algorithms and a familiarity with at least one major programming language (Perl, Python, Java, C++)
  • Experience with relational databases such as MYSQL
  • Excellent analytical skills (statistics, probability, quantitative reasoning) and a passion for solving problems
  • Be detail oriented and capable of multitasking and delivering in fast-paced work environment
