The worlds leading securities dealer is looking to hire a ETL Market Developer (Extract/Translate/Load Developer) to be based in Chicago. We are looking for a Market Data Developer, whose focus will be data extraction, parsing and loading to database for use by front office and back office data systems. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who has demonstrated the ability to function independently in a fast-paced, dynamic, and demanding trading environment. This person will be intellectually curious, intuitive, rigorous, trustworthy and have the highest ethical standards. In addition, you will be effective addressing a number of internal and external audiences in a professional manner. 


Systems:

  • Existing ETL software environment and database systems.


Tasks:

  • Learn the environment and current database systems for support and maintenance develop and maintain new parsers/loader systems.


Current Projects:

  • ETL ( Web / FTP download ; file parsing of PDF, Html, or CSV; load to database)


Technical Knowledge needed:

  • Linux / Windows platforms, OO Perl, SQL, RDBMS (Sybase, Python a plus)
  • The Market Data Developer will develop code for new projects and provide support on a rotating basis with the team for existing
  • Middle/Back Office IT production systems during US office hours. Some after hours support can be expected.


Required skills:

  • We are looking for an individual with a solid background in data structures, algorithms, and programming practices which will be all be needed for this role.
  • Must have at least 3-5 years experience with Perl, not a 'scripter' but a developer who understands the object-oriented capabilities of Perl and can use them.
  • Must have experience programming in Linux or other Unix environments.
  • Must have experience with parsing files.


Nice to Have:

  • Experience with scheduling systems (Tivoli Work Scheduler, Tidal, Autosys) is a plus.
  • Any Unix Admin or DBA experience will be helpful, but there definitely should be evidence of software development and not just administration.


Education

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related Engineering/Science curriculum
