Description Our client, a market leading high-frequency proprietary trading firm, seeks a Director of Global Systems Engineering to manage the team responsible for the engineering, deployment, and daily operations of their global trading systems infrastructure. 

The Systems Engineering team spans the globe, with team members in New York, Europe and Asia. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage global systems design and long-term strategy and architecture 
  • Take a leading role in researching, testing, recommending, implementing, and maintaining cutting-edge, ultra-low-latency server and network technologies 
  • collaborating with internal trading teams and external business partners to architect solutions for trading with new brokers and in new markets 
  • Architect a large-scale research and development environment utilizing HPC/HTC and cloud-scale tools such as Open Stack, and Object Store 
  • Building and leading a global team of systems engineers 


Qualifications: 

  • At least 10 years of experience working with complex, high performance and/or low latency networks with many sites (data centers and/or trading facilities) 
  • Expert knowledge of WAN, LAN, and datacenter network architectures 
  • Excellent understanding of network design, network operation, and network automation 
  • Expert knowledge of routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, MSDP, IGMP, and PIM 
  • Thorough knowledge of management and configuration of core Unix/Linux protocols and services including: DNS, LDAP, and NFS 
  • Strong background in multicast design and operations 
  • Hands-on knowledge of Unix or Linux and systems administration skills 
  • Solid scripting skills for network and server automation 
  • Strong project management skills and a familiarity with formal project management methodologies 
  • The communication and management skills to manage both global processes and local resources
