Our client is a top tier investment bank and this role is within the securities trading group. The Equities Dev Ops Strats team is responsible for managing the production platform for electronic trading strategies. This team partners with development teams in new product launches, deploying successful upgrades for existing strategies and respond to client or regulatory change requests. The team values proactive automation and undertakes projects for building and enhancing tools for simplification of software deployments, visualization and interaction with live systems and regular metrics driven operational enhancements


Key Responsibilities 

  • This is a software development heavy role, with a focus on automating and enhancing operational controls 
  • Architect an extensible system which provides oversight and control of multiple trading platforms. 
  • Incorporate existing operations and management software into the system where sensible. 
  • Enhance capabilities to capture operating metrics (system capacity, faults, latency etc.) 
  • Consider and prioritize desires of multiple stakeholders for the system.
  • Design, phase, implement, test and maintain the system.


Skills and Qualifications 

  • Degree in computer science or engineering or equivalent experience  
  • Experience with concepts and programming in Java or C++  
  • Hands on experience with Unix/Linux, Shell/Perl scripting, Python, Javascript and SQL
  • Experience with best practices in software development life cycle  
  • Knowledge of network concepts, topologies, and technologies 
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team
  • Distributed server software / web stacks 
  • WebUIs, AngularJS, Vert.x. 
  • Background in real-time support of software systems 
  • Background in trading systems


Typical working hours: 8:30am – 5:30pm

This is a front office role and the bonus for the position is derived from trading revenue generated by the desk rather than from the IT budget
