Their team is searching for a Senior DevOps/Development Engineer. They have a small and highly experienced technology team that has a close working relationship with their trading and quantitative research teams. This role will require collaboration with development teams and traders to understand the operational and support challenges of a complex electronic trading system. You will build solutions to create visibility into these systems, to automate operations, and to identify and create improvements.
The right candidate will be interested in:
- Rapid prototyping of small tools with web based presentation.
- Building tools, automation, and interfaces to make others jobs easier and more efficient.
- Utilizing open-source and commercial technologies and devices to create creative solutions to difficult problems.
- Interfacing with specialized hardware to extract information for analysis.
- Identifying performance opportunities and testing out scenarios to achieve those improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with equities traders and IT staff to provide technical expertise and discover improvement opportunities.
- Build full-stack web based tools for reporting and visualization of various internal metrics.
- Gather feedback and iteratively tune applications to ensure internal customer acceptance.
- Automate to eliminate operational tasks and processes.
- Provide support for platform and tools you’ve created, but build those solutions to require little support.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated development experience building web based tools and applications with HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
- 8+ years experience scripting in common language(s) (Python, Ruby, Perl, etc.).
- 8+ years experience with Linux.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, UDP).
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases (Postgres, MySQL, Mongo, Influx, etc.).
- Experience with front-end presentation libraries (JQuery, Bootstrap, Knockout, Highcharts, D3, Canvas, etc.).
- Not required by highly desirable: C++, UX concepts, performance testing, financial and trading concepts, FIX protocol, Puppet/Chef/Ansible/Salt.
Education
- An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related engineering or science curriculum.
