Our client seeks a Data Visualization Engineer to work in their Chicago office. The individual will need to be able to utilize data analytics and visualization expertise to build applications and services for the Clients investment professionals. This will require quantitative data analysis to rapidly iterate, prototype, and implement data visualizations using advanced design and development skills in JavaScript, Python, HTML/CSS, d3 and/or Tableau. This is a data visualization focused role, but should involve experience and knowledge of data science.
Key job responsibilities include:
- Work as part of an established, experienced development team to build best in class client facing technology platforms
- Understand market data and perform analysis to identify trends and insights, via Python or SQL
- Design and develop cross platform applications using Advanced JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and 3rd party tools
- Utilize interactive drill-downs, movements, and highlights to add layers of information, and engage users to explore data
- Facilitate communication and collaboration with business users and peer technology teams
- Provide application support to multiple businesses globally
Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Strong programming skills in one or more languages of JavaScript/ Python for 5 years
- Solid analytical skills and basic understanding of statistical models
- Knowledge of D3, Tableau or other visualization techniques
- Knowledge of React.js, Angular.js or other JavaScript frameworks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exposure to Python, SQL are plusses
- Exposure to Restful web services in Node.js/ Python is plus
- Financial industry experience is preferred
