Our client is one of the most profitable option trading teams in the US and the team accounts for around 20% of US listed option trading. The group trades high volume strategies which generate tens of billions of data points in exhaust each day. The role of the data scientist is to analyse the data generated by the market making system in order to glean insights which can be used to improve the performance of algorithmic trading strategies and to develop new strategies. This includes building tools and algorithms in Python to analyse very large data and extract hidden patterns and to automated processes and improve the efficiency of the trading team and the AI strategies. In terms of skills and experience, we are looking for a candidate with a deep understanding of Python, including the nuances related how Python handles sorts, structures and processes data. We need someone that has a deep and profound understanding of Python and how the language works and the nuances. 

Bonus points if you have:

• Worked on parallel matrix computation  and have an understanding of how to speed up performance and how to avoid memory lockups.  
• Developed data mining or machine learning algorithms and worked on big data. 
• Built machine learning algorithms for Starcraft, Chess, Go, Poker, High Frequency Trading etc 

Skills and Qualifications 

• BS/MS in Computer Science and… maths or statistics or econometrics, or computational biology or artificial intelligence or subjects with a focus on big data

In terms of personality, we need someone who is self-directed and able to analyze complex business/technical problems and make informed decisions to optimize or streamline processes
