Our client is searching for a Data Engineer to work in their Chicago office. The Data Engineer will work closely with members of Long Term Quantitative Strategies: IT, trading desks, QR and business leads. The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate ability to analyze data, determine how it is, or will be used, and make sound technical decisions proactively and in a self-directed manner.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design and development of tools to extract structured and unstructured data from multiple sources
- Responsible for development of software and tools to support the collection and transformation of the data that will be used by the Quantitative Research teams
- Facilitate communication and collaboration with both technical and business team members.
Requirements:
- Enthusiasm for programming and solid computer science fundamentals.
- 5-10 years of programming experience
- Experience in R/Python/Perl/shell scripting (should be proficient in a few of these)
- Knowledge and working experience with Reference Data and Market data feed (Reuters, etc.)
- Working knowledge of databases Unix/Linux .
- Expertise in multi-threading and C++ programming
- Detailed knowledge of scripting languages, NoSql, SQL and MongoDB is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Education:
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
