Our client is seeking an experienced Cloud engineer to work in their Chicago office. The ideal candidate will be expected to have experience in designing and running large batch and streaming data processing systems, e.g. Hadoop, Spark, Storm
Responsibilities:
- Design and build production cloud based batch and streaming data processing systems
- Provide infrastructure tooling for cloud and hybrid computing
- Provide operational support for your production systems
- Run and debug complex distributed environments.
- Articulate the advantages of various solution options.
- Evaluate new technologies by building and running PoCs
- Asses and communicate potential business impact of those technologies
- Act as a cloud architectural consultant for internal application teams
- Working with Front Office IT teams through entire project lifecycles.
Qualifications:
- A solid understanding of the various merits of different data stores, e.g. Cassandra, MongoDB, Riak, HBase.
- Experience with DevOps practices such as configuration management (e.g. Ansible, Chef etc..) and infrastructure automation
- Solid knowledge of various languages, preferably python/ruby and C++.
- Track record of deploying elastic applications to public or private clouds (AWS, GCE, Openstack…)
- Solid understanding of encryption and security.
- Good linux systems knowledge.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong critical reasoning skills.
- Strong work ethic & high degree of integrity.
- Self starter and able to work with minimal supervision.
Education:
- Bachelors of Science (Master Degree preferred) in engineering, computer science, or mathematics.
