The equity derivative trading desk specialises in electronic market making, market taking and relative value, correlation and dispersion trading. Our client is looking for a COO who can spearhead initiatives to optimise the business and set standards as the group increases their presence in OTC equity markets. The role will involve sitting on the desk with traders and owning operational tasks.
Responsbilities:
- Financial report reconciliation.
- Reduce expense and fee accrual tracking errors.
- Optimize expenses and fees based on volumes / routing decisions for venues.
- Regulatory coordination.
- Develop/Improve the timeliness and quality of service delivery from our support functions (primarily Technology, Data, Back Office) by developing and tracking metrics, improving the process and the working relationship between teams, and finding ways to reduce wasted time and resources.
- Project budgeting, manage to overall financials through the year. Analyse and explain deviations from budget.
- Design and implement Incident management (BOD/EOD Operational Integrity checks)
- Implementing KPI reporting for the desk and in summary form for management
- Support initiatives to standardize (where possible) supervisory procedures, documentation, and tools
- Ensure trades and books are properly monitored and managed with accurate risk capture and P&L reporting. This includes monitoring cash flows, triggers and approval conditions
Requirements:
- Ideally a Senior VP / Director looking for a lead role.
- Experience working close to the business with regular interaction with traders.
- A strong understanding of equity derivatives (specifically Variance Swaps) and their operational requirements and operational risks.
- A detailed understanding of documentation, collateral/margin and capital requirements for equity derivatives.
- Experience coordinating with Traders, Operations, IT, Legal and Compliance.
