Our client is searching for a Business Analyst to work in their Chicago office. The successful candidate will be a mature self-starter and quick learner who has demonstrated the ability to function independently in a fast- paced, dynamic and demanding environment. The ideal candidate needs to be able to resolve conflict within a short period of time. This person will be intellectually curious, intuitive, and trustworthy and be able to add efficiency and value to the process and analysis through the use of analytical skills and innovative thinking. In addition, you will be effective addressing a number of internal and external audiences in a professional manner. This person will add value by working on a number of simultaneous tasks with minimal supervision and exemplary follow-through.


Responsibilities:

  • Define and document system requirements with business and technology stakeholders. 
  • Partner with internal development teams throughout the product lifecycle including requirements definition, design, testing and deployment. 
  • Own project deliverables such as project plans, functional designs / prototypes, test plans; creating / enhancing deliverable templates as required. 
  • Define and maintain project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risk and issue lists. 
  • Plan sprints, prioritize development, manage JIRA boards and backlogs. 
  • Prepare project communication for weekly status reports and monthly steering committee meetings (for larger programs). 
  • Work with PMO to align consistent reporting processes; assist with developing enhanced program management capabilities. 
  • Build relationships with development teams, leads, clients and users. 


Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years experience in the financial services, fintech or consulting firms servicing the investment industry. 
  • 5+ years of business analysis / project management experience. 
  • Fundamental understanding of and deep experience in trading lifecycle and complex asset classes including fixed income and derivatives. 
  • 3+ years working with custom software development (versus system integration) projects; experience with Python / SQL programming languages a plus. 
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project skills. 
  • Experience with JIRA / Agile planning. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail. 
  • Thoughtful, precise, clear and accurate written and oral communication skills. 
  • Strong relationship building skills required.


Education:

  • Undergraduate degree from a top university required, ideally in engineering, finance, mathematics, and / or computer science. MBA, MIS and / or professional certification such as CFA, CAIA or FRM is a plus.
