Our Client is seeking an Alternative & Financial Data Developer to join their team in Connecticut. Some of the responsibilities will include the design and implementation of software to facilitate data integration with trading and simulating systems. They will be working alongside the Trading and Research departments and will provide second level support to the production support team regarding market data issues. The successful candidate will have experience with scripting languages, as well as C++ or other object orientated languages. They must possess an academic background in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or Physics. 


Key Job Responsibilities

  • Design and implement software to facilitate data integration with trading and simulating systems
  • Adopt new technologies to improve existing frameworks of data flow and monitoring
  • Work with Trading/Research departments in designing and implementing new data sets on premises and in the cloud.
  • Implement and maintain software that interface with external vendors to bring in new data sets
  • Implement the rules and procedures that ensure integrity in data sets
  • Provide second level support to production support team regarding market data issues
  • Collect and analyze statistics on market data applications and devise approaches to improve the relevant processes
  • Design and implement systems that track and manage data availability, access and usage


Suggested Skills/ Experience

  • Be interested in applying technology to real situations, comfortable working in a fast paced environment, detail oriented and capable of performing tasks under pressure
  • Possess effective problem-solving skills whether independently or as member of a team
  • Have good communication skills: must be fluent in English, spoken and written
  • Possess strong trouble shooting abilities 
  • Possess a background in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or Physics. Proof of good academic record (such as GPA or other relevant test scores)
  • Have experience working under Linux environment, familiar with Vim or Emacs for editing files under the command line
  • Have experience with C++ or other object oriented languages
  • Have experience with scripting languages, such as Perl, Python, and shell scripting
  • Interface with database (such as MySQL)


Education

  • Possess an academic background in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or Physics. Proof of good academic record (such as GPA or other relevant test scores)
