Our client is seeking an experienced Research Data Architect to work in their Chicago office. The successful candidate will be entrepreneurial, self-starters and enjoy being in a fast-paced, dynamic and demanding environment to help continue building and growing one of the world's leading global financial institutions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Investment Research Analysts in the empirical valuation and forecasting of securities to aid in the ongoing portfolio research process.
- Support ongoing evaluation of financial information from financial data providers and other sources that lead to superior investment research strategies.
- Enhance and distribute critical research data content and distribute portfolio analytics within the investment research team.
Requirements:
- Solid training from a leading academic institution in Software Engineering, Economics, Finance
- 3+ years' experience in Python
- 2+ years' experience with web technologies (node.js, JSON, casperJS)
- 2+ years' experience with cluster/cloud technologies (e.g. Apache Spark)
- Exposure to C/C++, Java/Scala, perl a plus
- Experience working in a data intensive role including the extraction of data (db/web/api/etc.), transformation and loading (ETL);
- Exposure with structured and/or unstructured financial data content (e.g. Compustat, Bloomberg); exposure to one or more "big data" technologies (e.g. Cassandra, MongoDB); exposure to RDBMS technologies (SQL, Sybase)
- High attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and computational skills
- Tenacious with strong problem solving capabilities
- Experience in project management a plus
Education:
- Bachelors Degree in engineering or computer science or related field of study. Masters preferred
