Our client is looking for a High Performance Engineer to join their New York office. You will be part of a team bringing innovation and cutting edge technology to reduce latency and improve the performance of trading strategies. This role will primarily involve working with a cohesive team of engineers, developers, and DevOps to build world class systems and the necessary tools to maintain and constantly improve. The position calls for someone with a mind to innovate, constantly use measurements and statistics to improve, and pay close attention to details. You will have 3 primary areas of responsibility; focusing on performance design, implementation, and the operational integrity of the global systems. This role is not a traditional infrastructure position, and will require candidates to have a focus on engineering. You will need to be an experienced, self-directed engineer that can work successfully in collaborative settings and a team player who is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Responsibilities:

• Detailed design and implementation of specialized networks
• Performance and utilization data gathering and analysis
• Real-time analysis and operation of highly specialized networks
• Automation of repeatable tasks

Requirements:

• Demonstration of dependability, reliability, and a penchant for security
• Extensive experience with networking equipment and configuration
• Design experience with low latency network technologies, both in high and low capacity scenarios
• Experience working with capture devices, precision timing, and data analysis
• Expert level Perl, Python, or Bash scripting experience
• Excellent documentation skills
• Experience designing and deploying networks in the Financial Services sector is preferred
• User level knowledge of LINUX/UNIX ability to perform basic network troubleshooting is preferred
• Data modeling using many data sources is preferred

• Some experience working with financial industry data centers and collocations is preferred

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science or an allied field.
